Builders Association Members Stand Behind Their Services with New Customer Bill of Rghts
“Developers, architects, project owners – all of them are our customers, and it’s our job to serve them with professionalism and productivity.” Kevin Reilly, executive vice president of The Builders Association of Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania (The Builders) is determined to spread this message. To do that, the Association is releasing a customer bill of rights.
Reilly says times have changed for union labor, and his association of about 200 skilled contractors are responding to the new era in the construction industry by hiring only professionals who are trained to get the job done on time, on budget so that projects using union contractors remain productive and cost-effective.
To prove his point, these new characteristics are now in writing - a first for the local association. The Builders Association stands behind its services with a new Customer Bill of Rights, nine guarantees that let developers, architects and project owners know what they can and should expect when members of The Builders are hired.
The document spells out that workers will be trained professionals, that manpower or specialty skills will not be a problem, and that union workers will have OSHA and other safety training. It also promises a meaningful business partnership, a strong work ethic, productivity, flexibility and availability.
“This document is a summary of how each of our members routinely approach each and every project,” Reilly said. “We believe putting it in writing will further the relationships our members establish with their customers.”
