Local Construction Professionals Capture Tips to Optimize Structural Masonry

The Builders Association and International Masonry Institute (IMI) teamed recently to provide dozens of local construction professionals with tips to better optimize structural masonry in building projects.
Tom Nagy, director of the Ohio & Western PA IMI, spoke on the inter-relationship in masonry buildings between materials, architecture, engineering and construction. He also illustrated ways to use existing materials more effectively, and explained the effect of one selection over another, new materials, current code and specification provisions.
The Builders Association hosted the Lunch and Learn event at the Avalon Country Club at Squaw Creek on March 20. More than 40 architects, engineers, consultants, contractors and masonry professionals attended.
"The information was both timely and relevant for our region's construction industry," said Builders Executive Vice-President Kevin Reilly. "Building a solid foundation speaks for itself in any project, and we believe those who attended were given tips and strategies that they could employ immediately."
