Understanding Storm Shelters for PK-12 Schools and Other Public Facilities

The International Masonry Institute and the International Union of Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Ohio-Kentucky Administrative District Council are hosting an educational seminar titled “Understanding Storm Shelters for PK-12 Schools and Other Public Facilities.” This seminar will help you understand the purpose, planning, design and construction of storm shelters as well as the expected changes to the International Building Code (IBC) in 2015. The seminar will be conducted on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 from 9:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at the Robert A. Fozio Training Center in Hudson, Ohio.

The seminar sessions will cover such topics as:

• Do’s and Don’ts of Tornado Shelter Design;

• ICC 500 Shelter Construction, Door and Hardware Overview;

• Tornado Designs that Work for Public Schools;

There is no fee to attend the seminar, however registration is required.
