The Builders Awards Four Scholarships to YSU Construction Students
Four underclassmen from Youngstown State University are the 2011 recipients of the annual Builders Association of Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania (The Builders) scholarship program.
The Builders selects YSU students each year who demonstrate that they are excelling in the school’s Civil & Construction Engineering Technology program. Since 1971, The Builders has awarded $124,210, including the $2,000 given to each of this year’s recipients.
Students awarded the scholarships for 2011 are:
- Jeremy Boozer, a freshman from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
- David Porterfield, a freshman from West Middlesex, Pennsylvania
- Brett Cash, a sophomore from Columbiana, Ohio (note: this is the second year that Brett has earned this scholarship!)
- Jeffrey Baco, a sophomore from Berlin Center, Ohio
“The Builders has awarded this scholarship for 40 years now, and we have seen many of these recipients remain in the region to become successful construction professionals and contribute to the advancement of our local construction industry,” said Kevin Reilly, Executive Vice President of The Builders.
The students were honored at The Builders’ 42nd Annual Meeting, held this evening at the Youngstown Club.
