The Builders Awards Five Scholarships to YSU Construction Students
Youngstown, Ohio, December 7, 2016 – For 45 years, the Builders Association has awarded more than $168,000 in scholarships to collegiate men and women studying to become a construction professional in our region.
The Builders continued that tradition this year by awarding another round of scholarships to five Youngstown State University students, all of whom are enrolled in YSU’s Civil and Construction Engineering Technology Program. The 2016 scholarship recipients are:
- Kara Weeks, a freshman from Austintown, Ohio
- Jo-Lynn Campbell, a sophomore from Boardman, Ohio
- Ron Bigley, a sophomore from Austintown, Ohio
- Danny Marker, a senior from Howland, Ohio
- Hayley Marchio, a senior from Howland, Ohio
The students were awarded their scholarships this evening at The Builders’ annual meeting. A special Scholarship Committee consisting of Chairman Paul Johnson, President of Adolph Johnson & Son; Jim Santini of Jim Santini Builder, Inc.; and Jeff Mason of Youngstown Tile & Terrazzo reviewed applications and recommended this year’s honorees.
The Builders has already allocated money in their 2017 budget to fund this program again next year.
