Builders’ annual meeting highlights growth, momentum in the industry

The Builders Association capped off a year of progress at its annual meeting held at The Lake Club by reflecting on strong performance, honoring leadership and reinforcing its commitment to workforce development.

Executive Vice President Kevin Reilly reported a 2.1% increase in man hours from 2024 to 2025, reaching just over 3 million total.

While that’s slightly below the 20-year average of 3.1 million, it reflects steady momentum in the region.

“If you look at the trends, we’re tracking close to long-term averages,” Reilly said. “That tells us that the work is here, and we’ve got the people to do it. But the need to invest in future talent is more important than ever.”

Reilly also noted that non-residential construction volume in the region exceeded $1.2 billion in 2025, bolstered by a $400 million project in Trumbull County.

A key moment during the evening was the ceremonial handoff from outgoing president Dave Collins to incoming president Chris White. Reilly praised Collins’ leadership and industry insight.

“Dave has vast knowledge and experience, and I really appreciated working more closely with him this year,” he said.

White, vice president of operations at Boak & Sons, thanked Collins and the entire association for the opportunity.

“It’s an honor to serve as president,” White said. “I’m looking forward to getting to know more of you and continuing to grow this great organization.”

The Builders also announced its 2026 Executive Committee, honored contest and scholarship winners, and celebrated standout 2025 events like the Bustin’ Clays fundraiser, pre-apprentice competitions and a record-breaking 6,500-student turnout at the Mahoning Valley Skilled Trades Expo.
